Ziua universală a iei | Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse – 2022 – RESCHEDULED

Tradiția continuă! Anul acesta vom sărbători 10 ani de “Ziua Universală a Iei” la Washington, DC și ne vom revedea duminică, 10 iulie la ora 17:15 pe scena evenimentului Weekend Românesc la Wharf (District Pier – 735 Water St. SW Washington, DC). Vă rugăm așadar să fiți prompți cu prezența deoarece nu vom avea decât puțin timp pe scena festivalului pentru poza de grup! Întâlnirea care a fost inițial programată pe data de 25 iunie la Capitol Reflecting Pool, în același loc unde în 2013 am sărbătorit pentru prima dată aceast frumos eveniment, a fost reprogramtă datorită protestelor care aveau loc la acea dată. Vă reamintim că tot aici la Washington, în 2015, Primăria capitalei americane proclama ziua de 24 iunie ca fiind Ziua iei românești, conferindu-i astfel prima recunoaștere oficială din lume. Sperăm ca la această frumoasă aniversare, să răspundeți în număr cât mai mare acestei invitații și să facem din nou dovada unității și importanței comunității noastre. În această zi, românii și iubitorii României și ai Republicii Moldova sunt provocați așadar să poarte ia, splendida bluză a portului popular, sau cămăși tradiționale românești și să aducă steaguri și obiecte populare care ar putea fi folosite ca decor pentru pozele care se vor face cu această ocazie.

În acest an aniversar, tema zilei universale a iei este ”Apreciere și recunoaștere” și de aceea Romanians of DC va avea câteva activități mai deosebite care includ:
– Decernarea unor certificate de apreciere formațiilor de dansuri populare și altor grupuri din zonă care păstrează și promovează dansul, tradițiile și costumele populare din România;
– Prezentarea iilor și cămășilor populare câștigătorilor concursului ”Ia – Cămașa care mă reprezintă” care s-a desfășurat în lunile mai și iunie; și
– Lansarea oficială a seriei de 12 timbre emise de Poșta Moldovei dedicate aniversări unui deceniu în care s-a sărbătorit an de an Ziua universală a iei la Washington, DC.

Ziua Universală a Iei este o celebrare a iei tradiționale românești, oriunde s-ar află pe planetă, este o inițiativă fără precedent care a luat naștere pe Facebook, unind iubitorii României din toate colțurile lumii. Concepută în ianuarie 2013 și coordonată de comunitatea online La blouse roumaine ziua a devenit un adevărat eveniment global, fiind sărbătorită pe șase continente în peste 60 de țări, 130 localități și peste 200 de evenimente. Ziua Universală a Iei a renăscut interesul pentru ceea ce înseamnă creațiile populare autentice, a crescut aprecierea și sprijinul acordat meșteșugarilor tradiționali și a contribuit decisiv la repoziționarea iei și a culturii populare românești după mai bine de 30 de ani de la căderea comunismului.

Să ascultăm așadar îndemnul Comunității “La Blouse Roumaine” și veniți cu toții să îmbrăcăm împreună Washingtonul și planeta în ia românească!

This year we are celebrating 10 years of the “Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse” in Washington, DC. To mark the event, we will meet on Sunday, July 10 at 5:15 pm on the stage of the Romanian Weekend at The Wharf (District Pier – 735 Water St. SW Washington, DC). Given this new venue, we kindly ask everyone to be promptly present and available since we only have a small window of time for the group photo. This event was originally scheduled for June 25 at the same location where in 2013 we first celebrated the Ia Day, however because of protests that day we had to reschedule the event. We should also remember that it was here in Washington, in 2015, where the Mayor of the Nation’s Capital proclaimed June 24th as the Day of the Romanian Folk Costume and thus conferring the first official recognition of this day.

We hope that on this beautiful anniversary, you will respond in large numbers to this invitation and once again prove the unity and importance of our community. On this day, Romanians and lovers of Romania and of the Republic of Moldova are challenged to wear the splendid blouse of the folk costume, or traditional Romanian shirts and to bring flags and folk objects that could be used as decoration for the pictures to be taken on this occasion.

The theme of the Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse on this anniversary year is “Appreciation and Recognition” and for that Romanians of DC will include a few special activities that include:
– Awarding certificates of appreciation to the folk dance groups and other groups in the area that preserve and promote Romanian folk dance, traditions and costumes;
– Presenting the Romanian folk blouses to the winners of the essay contest “The Romanian Blouse – My Blouse” which took place in May and June 17; and
– Officially launching the 12-stamp series issued by the Post Office of Moldova dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the celebration of Universal Day in Washington, DC.

The Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse is a celebration of the traditional Romanian blouse (ia) uniting around the globe all those who cherish Romania and its folk costume. Coordinated by the online community La Blouse Roumaine, the day, first marked in 2013, has become a truly global event celebrated on six continents, in over 60 countries, 130 cities, and through over 200 events. The Universal Day of the Romanian Blouse has rekindled the interest and appreciation for the authentic Romanian folk art and creations, and for those who make them, and after more than 30 years since the fall of the communist regime, this movement has contributed decisively to the rebirth and a renewed interest in traditional Romanian culture.

So let us heed the call of “La Blouse Roumaine” and dress Washington, DC, and the globe, in the Romanian Blouse!
