The Future of European Security Architecture – The Path to the NATO Summit in Vilnius
October 20, 2022 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am
The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) invites you to a virtual conversation on ”The Future of European Security Architecture – The Path to the NATO Summit in Vilnius” with NATO Deputy Secretary General, Mircea Geoană and Heather Conley, President of the German Marshall Fund of the United States. The event will take place on Thursday, October 20 from 10:00 until 11:00 am EDT.
The war in Ukraine has brought to the forefront not only the instability in Europe’s East (the Black Sea region), but also the pressing need to rethink the European security order. With NATO as the cornerstone of that architecture, the multiple facets of Russia’s modern war and the new web of geopolitical relations call for a deeper approach to security. The summit in Madrid earlier this year, as well as NATO’s recent defense ministers’ meeting pave the way for a further, substantive conversation on the future of European security, culminating in next year’s NATO summit in Vilnius.
