Mărțișoare Workshop
February 27, 2021 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
ARCS – American Romanian Cultural Society invites you to join us for a spring celebration with a Mărțișor Workshop on Saturday, February 27 from 1 pm EST. The event is organized in partnership with the Romanian NGO – Cu Alte Cuvinte, and our community partners from Washington DC – Romanians of DC. The workshop is destined for kids ages 7+, or younger, supervised by a parent.
Mărțișor is an old tradition celebrated all over Romania every year, on March 1st, also widely spread in Bulgaria and the Balkans. The name Mărțișor is a diminutive of March (Martie in Romanian). It is believed that the person who wears the red and white string would enjoy a prosperous and healthy year. Read more: http://romaniatourism.com/martisor.html
